Thomas Hoyer introduced American calligraphers to these ready-to-use brilliant liquid watercolors. He has used them to produce great effects with a ruling pen. The inks are best applied to a ruling pen using a brush or eye dropper.

This hard to find Artist Grade Sumi is Gemma Black’s favorite ink. She enjoys its distinct and pleasant scent and notes that it will produce very fine hair lines. For pointed pen she uses it straight from the bottle. For broad-edged work she dilutes it 2/3s ink and 1/3 water. The one oz size comes in a wide mouth glass jar. .
Choice of sizes: 1oz (30ml), 6oz (180ml), 60oz (1.8L)

These brushes can be used for chisel edged brush writing and watercolor painting. Carl Rohrs finds these water media brushes to be good for lettering. He recommends the W&N 995 (BR01) for ½" & larger. Synthetic bristles.
