B23. So Where Do I Put The Lettering? Basic Layout and Design for Calligraphers -- Supplies
NEED TO BRING: Basic Tool Kit (no fountain pens); paint brushes (large wash brushes and smaller watercolor brushes); gouache and watercolors (bring what you already use for lettering or at least have alizarin crimson, ultramarine, lemon yellow and Chinese or zinc white gouache); colored pencils or watercolor pencils; liquid frisket; kneadable eraser; interesting scraps of paper for collage; rubber cement pick-up; Arches watercolor paper (140#, hot press and cold press, two sheets each, full sheets if you can manage it OR cut into fourths for ease of transport).

OPTIONAL: A piece of your completed calligraphic art or something that you're working on/struggling with. You and I can discuss it privately or, with your permission, we can use it in the class setting to get more input as to the design direction you might choose to go.
