Gillott #303, Hiro #41, Nikko "G," Leonardt EF Principal or your
favorite pointed nib); oblique pen holder; McCaffery's ink; layout or
grid paper (with 1/8" squares); 1-2 sheets of quality art paper (e.g.,
Arches HP, Canson Mi-Teintes, Diploma Parchment); at least one
sheet of black or dark colored paper of your choice; protractor
or adjustable triangle; gouache (white or Dr. Martin's Bleedproof
White, black and 3–4 colors of your choice).

The Zanerian Manual of Alphabets and Engrossing. 1981. 140pp. 8"x10.5". Spiral.
The first 21 pages by E.A. Lupfer provide some of the best copperplate instruction available.He is a master of the hand.
Other engrossing alphabets are shown, as well as many examples of engrossed pieces. Revised & reissued at intervals since it was first published as Zanerian Alphabets in 1895. Now printed on 80# gloss paper.

Eight pages of good instruction on writing and letterforms

***Due to the poor condition of these books we now sell them in a three ring binder. We have cut off the binding and drilled holes in the pages without losing any of the lettering.

alphabets, off hand flourishing, engrossing and diplomas. A great reprint. A highly recommended manual.

Hunt 101.
A very steady and durable nib, the Hunt 101 is a great choice for projects that require larger writing with x-heights above 1/4". It can be used on most paper surfaces, though it can have a tendency to catch on the upstroke when used on a rougher surface.
