DVD48. Restoring a Family Bible DVD
Restoring a Family Bible with Michael L. Chrisman. 214 min. DVD
In this Volume Two of the Bookbinders Workshop Instructional Series, Mr. Chrisman teaches how to beautifully restore a typical Family Bible of the Victorian era. These types of bibles are commonly found in American and English homes. They represent the "core" of a family, as they record critical data about the family's ancestry. They were so popular that all through the 19th century and the early decades of the 20th, they were considered "must have" books in nearly any family home. Today, nearly a hundred years later, thousands of these bibles still exist, and families regularly seek out skilled bookbinders to restore them. Here, Mr. Chrisman shows you how to restore these bibles in an historically correct fashion, preserving all of the original binding components. The entire process is captured here on camera, leaving no technique unexplained and demonstrated.
