NEED TO BRING: Basic Tool Kit; 3/8" wide flat brush; palettes
with many hollows; two water pots; and other papers, tools,
and materials with which you wish to experiment.
TUBES
OF GOUACHE: Black (avoid jet black as it dries up quickly);
Chinese (zinc) white; Two reds: bluish-red such as permanent
rose, quinacridone magenta, or permanent alizarin crimson; and
"orangey-red" such as flame, scarlet or vermilion; Two blues:
purplish-blue such as ultramarine; and greenish-blue, such as cyan,
phthalo blue, or cerulean. Two yellows: greenish-yellow such as
lemon or cadmium light; orangey-yellow such as golden yellow,
gamboges, or cadmium medium (if not available, bring spectrum
or primary yellow). Note: although primary yellow is okay, primary
or spectrum red and blue will NOT work in this system. Contrary
to belief, we will make "primaries." Additional colors you bring will
only be used for the purpose of seeing where they fit.
MATERIALS
FEE: $20 [includes twelve color prints of instructor's color charts
and explanatory sheets; ten 8 ½ "x11" sheets of watercolor paper;
one leaf of instructor's "patent" gold and adhesive; use of instructor
tools and materials].

BR24. Raphael Kaerell Flat Brush
These brushes can be used for chisel edged brush writing and watercolor painting. Carl Rohrs finds these water media brushes to be good for lettering. He recommends the W&N 995 (BR01) for ½" & larger. Synthetic bristles.
