A5. Crafting the Illuminated Miniature -- Book List

Jed likes this book. The first section is on medieval pigments. It's a fascinating book on pigments and Friday's travels to find their historical roots. It's an engaging read, but not a how-to illumination book.
B2624. Color: A Natural History of the Palette by Victoria Finlay. $14.95. JNB Price $13.50.

B2624. Color: A Natural History...
Color: A Natural History of the Palette
By Victoria Finlay. 2003. 464pp. 5"x8". Paper. Retail Price $16.00.

Takes the reader on an adventure around the world and
through the ages, illuminating how the colors we choose to
value have determined the history of culture itself. Explores the physical materials that color our world, such as precious minerals and insect blood. From Cyberscribes: "...an amazing book that I can't put down.... It reads like an adventure novel, as she actually visited all the countries, their mines, and their sources." --Jenny Hunter Groat
