Book of Intentions Materials List
Tulsa Retreat (Feb 5-8, 2009)
Welcome to this Artistic Adventure! While we will be learning alot of techniques,this is going to take a little digging-a little personal archeology-Think about whom this book will be memorializing-and also the things and words you want to include about yourself and your relationship to this subject.
- One yard or more of smooth unprimed canvas- 7 ounce or what you can find-100% cotton 7 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. I also like drill cloth (available at JoAnns for $4.29 a yard at this writing)
- Lightweight sheer material , a yard or two-cut into strips that are 8 1/2 inches wide-this will be the background fabric for your pages
- One yard of cotton muslin
- Fabric paints you already have
- FW, Liquitex Acrylic Ink and/or Pearlescent Acrylic Inks, a couple colors
- Old Brushes-hairy, flat (1-3 in.wide), pointed watercolor (sizes 2,3 & 8 round pointed watercolor or similar sizes would work well), house painting (1 in., 1-1/2 in. or 2 in. would be good)
- Pigma Micron markers, Pitt pens (the pointed ones. Pigma Micron Pens and Pitt Artist Pens are similar), Sharpies (Colors are nice. Lisa likes the Fine Point Sharpies and the White Poster Paint Sharpies), and /or gel pens if you have them
- Pencils, regular and colored
- Small Spray bottle
- Small container of PVA or Yes glue
- Personal Photos or images.. You may want to photocopy them onto t-shirt transfer paper
- Zig Calligraphy marker (the chisel edged ones, Black and/or colored)
- Purple disappearing ink pen
- Plastic palette-6 well
- Fabric Scissors, Ruler (18 in. would be a good size for the ruler)
- Small Fabric scraps and various paper scraps
- Fabric strips at least 9 inches long
- Trim, Miscellaneous fabric stuff, metallic thread, embroidery floss
- Different textures and colors of fabric, just whatever you have
- Smaller mementos, symbols, charms, stamps, beads and amulets that speak to a certain memory -to celebrate your tribute and your secret art self
- Paper Towels, Apron, and Wate
- Iron -- we will have a couple
