Supplies for both classes
Paper: Tracing or layout pad (easily seen through for tracing an image); 1 sheet Arches HP watercolor paper, 140 lb or 300 lb (cut sheet into 4 pieces); can substitute Fabriano Artistico HP.
Tools: .5mm mechanical pencil (HB); 2B wooden pencil; white plastic eraser.
Watercolor: Tubes or pans; recommended brands: Winsor & Newton, Schmincke, Sennelier, or Graham (include: Black; Payne's Gray; Cadmium; Permanent or Quinacridone Red; Alizarin Crimson; Cadmium or Quinacridone Orange; Chrome or Cadmium Yellow; Naples Yellow; Yellow Ochre; Burnt Sienna; Cerulean Blue; Ultramarine Blue; Cobalt Violet; Sap Green – a good green for botanical painting; Titanium or Permanent White in a tube, NO pthalocyanine colors).
Brushes: Good quality brushes are VERY important! Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Miniature watercolor brushes No. 2/0 and No.1 OR regular Series 7 or other sable brushes that come to a good point. (Synthetic brushes are not recommended).
Misc..: Notebook or sketchbook for notes; Palette; Water container; Rag for wiping brushes; Vellum sheets will be available for purchase (scrap for practice image, 6 x 8 inches for small composition).
Optional: Magnifier; desk lamp and extension cord; Saral graphite transfer paper. Reference materials provided; you may bring a photo, book or small object to use as reference. These images should be sharp and details clearly visible.
