Supplies
Pens: Fine point black permanent pen (Pigma Micron 0.5 or smaller, or equivalent).
Tools: Range of sizes of brushes for acrylic paints; kneaded eraser; ruler; pencils (2B, 3B, 4B and 2H).
Ink/Paint: *Acrylic paints: White, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson (or Quinacridone Red); Cadmium yellow and Lemon or Azo Yellow. (Golden colors, tubes, jars and liquid are all OK).
Paper: At least 6 sheets of Arches text wove (full sheet 40x25") tear each sheet into quarters. Can substitute with 140 lb watercolor. Before class cover at least 6 quarter sheets of paper with 2 coats of white gesso. You can thin the first coat with water, let it dry, and then add a second coat.
Misc..: Palette; water container; 6 containers with lids (smaller ones used for leftovers are good - need a way to mix acrylic paints and keep them from drying); inexpensive brushes for mixing color; paper towels or rags; drawing paper and/or sketchbook.
Optional: watercolor (red, yellow and blue); Not required but if time permits Laurie will provide: charcoal, hard pastels, found objects to write with, "still life" objects, rubber gloves, sandpaper, methyl cellulose, molding paste, sponges, book supplies (metallic acrylics, brads, linen thread), Arches text cover paper, Kozo paper.
Materials Fee: $15
* Larger tubes of paint preferred due to a combination of drawing, writing and painting.
