Supplies
Pens: Broad edged pens with Brause size 3mm and 4mm nibs required; penholder with round barrel to roll in the fingers.
Tools: Round bristle brushes sizes 6 and 8 for mixing paint and loading pens; cheap half inch bristle decorator's brush to be used exclusively for applying pumice and sandarac.
Ink/Paint: Ink: black gouache (Winsor & Newton Ivory Black recommended but not required).
Paper: Layout pad or practice paper 11"x17" or larger; 1-2 sheets of quality paper (Ex. Arches Text Wove or BFK Rives).
Misc..: Palette; water jar; pencils; 18" ruler; finely powdered pumice and gum sandarac* *Note: Your sandarac powder may need to be ground finer; bring a ceramic or stone mortar and pestle if possible.

The most important of the fully decorated pages are shown, plus a series of enlargements showing the almost unbelievable minuteness of the detail of the spiral and interlaced patterns and the human and animal ornament.
