Pens: Oblique penholder: pointed pen nibs (Ex. Hunt #101, Gillott #303, Hiro #41, Nikko "G" or your favorite pointed nib).
Tools: Straight edge; pencil; protractor or adjustable triangle.
Ink/Paint: Black ink (Ex. Higgins Eternal, McCaffrey's, Moon Palace Sumi or ink stick and grinding stone); gouache: white or Dr. PH Martin's bleedproof white, black, 2-3 colors of your choice.
Paper: Graph paper 11x17" with 1/8" squares; 1-2 sheets of quality art paper (Ex. Arches HP, Canson Mi Tientes, Diploma Parchment); at least one sheet of black or dark colored paper of your choice.

***Due to the poor condition of these books we now sell them in a three ring binder. We have cut off the binding and drilled holes in the pages without losing any of the lettering. If you prefer a copy still in the original binding we can send you a copy, but the binding will likely fail.

80 pages of instruction on basic script starting with holding the pen and positioning the paper, followed by pages of exercises, letterforms, words, and sentences to copy. Then 33 pages on Artistic Writing (Spencerian) -- instruction on adding the stresses to capitals and appropriate lowercase letters. Smaller sections on Engravers Script, broadedged
alphabets, off hand flourishing, engrossing and diplomas. A great reprint. A highly recommended manual.
