Pens: Oblique penholder: pointed pen nibs (Ex. Hunt #101, Gillott #303, Hiro #41, Nikko "G" or your favorite pointed nib).
Tools: Straight edge; pencil; protractor or adjustable triangle.
Ink/Paint: Black ink (Ex. Higgins Eternal, McCaffrey's, Moon Palace Sumi or ink stick and grinding stone); gouache: white or Dr. PH Martin's bleedproof white, black, 2-3 colors of your choice.
Paper: Graph paper 11x17" with 1/8" squares; 1-2 sheets of quality art paper (Ex. Arches HP, Canson Mi Tientes, Diploma Parchment); at least one sheet of black or dark colored paper of your choice.
Misc..: Mixing tray; mixing brush.
Optional: Drawing/slant board; T-square.

JNB Graph Pad
Light blue grid (8 squares/inch). 28 lb bond. 11"x17". Approx 50 sheets.
A non-bleeding paper that is great for calligraphy. (We use the same paper in our JNB Practice Pads.) Many instructors have their students use this pad in their classes. (It is the pad required by Claude Dieterich for his Academy of Art classes, and also by Ann Miller for her online class.) (For graph with slant lines P01.)
Please choose color: Light or Dark.
Light: This grid does not show on many copiers, shows faintly on others, and usually disappears when you adjust the exposure one setting lighter. If you use a copier to produce your finished art for reproduction, this is the pad for you. This pad is good for jobs done at quick printers.
Dark: For classes, some students may appreciate a slightly darker grid. This is particularly true for adult classes. This is still a light blue grid. Some teachers have commented that their students found the original pad's grid was too light.

This bestselling archival sheet is now even better. Easy to write on and a little thicker than most text weight papers, it is great for certificates and one-off pieces. A paper you will use again & again. Give it a try. The New Diploma Parchment is a warm beige (off-white) and recommended by Vivian Mungall. The old Diploma Parchment was a yellowish cream.
