Calligraphy Essentials: Texture and Grid, Point and Edge

This one-day lettering workshop presents full page pattern and writing exercises for point and edge that will
support and enrich your approach to lettering art, painting, or printed page.

Materials to Bring:
Your favorite medium sized broad edged pens (Speedball C-1 to C-3 or Brause 2mm, for instance, or larger and smaller sizes)
Sumi ink and/or walnut ink
Pilot Parallel Pen (2.4mm or 3.8mm) with your choice of ink
Optional round brushes, sizes 1 or 2
Strathmore 400 drawing paper pad, not too small!
Cotton Comp Layout Paper, or other Layout Bond
If you like to use color bring walnut ink or gouache, watercolor pans or tubes, or add colored pencil or pan pastels.
Usual drawing kit: small palette, water container, #2 pencil, eraser, blade, T-square, ruler, rags, etc.

Recommended: A full sheet or two of good paper such as Arches 140# Hot Press watercolor or printing papers such as Rives BFK or Arches Text Wove, to tear apart for the final artwork.
