Art Responding to Poetry - 1LD1
In this class Laurie will show slides of her recent work, including a series of paintings done as a response to Galway Kinnell's poem "Another Night in the Ruins". The tradition of one art form responding to another goes all the way back to Plato and is coined in the Greek word ekphrasis. It is an exciting opportunity to see how calligraphy, poetry and painting work in concert.

Laurie Doctor: "I think of this book as a kind of handbook for calligraphers, artists, poets and teachers. Stafford demonstrates how our work happens not only in the room we are in, but also in the larger context of ideas, attitudes, and the invisible exchange with the muse."– See Letter Arts Review 24-1 for a brief review of this book by Laurie.
