St. Louis Calligraphy Guild presents Gemma Black - Retro Deco Letters - SOLD OUT

Presented by the St. Louis Calligraphy Guild
John Neal Books is not hosting this class.

GEMMA BLACK , RETRO DECO LETTERING, OCT 1, 8, 15, 22, 2020

Making use of lettering examples from late 19th & early 20th centuries such as the Wiener Secession movement (think Klimt), the Art Deco movement (think Rennie Mackintosh) and the Roycrofters arts & crafts community (think Dard Hunter) in the US, we will enjoy recreating these decorative hand drawn letters and type designs. We will also look briefly at the Arts & Crafts (all Europe) and Art Nouveau (new art) periods so we can understand why & how these early 20th century movements evolved. We will pen, paint and draw letters to our hearts content revisiting 1900’s Deco (decorative) and Modernist movements.

This workshop will be online on Zoom, the first 4 Thursday evenings in October, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.   Class info will be online for one week after the class date.

Workshop Fee is $75 for members, $100 for non-members.  To reserve your place, please send your check, payable to STL Calligraphy Guild, to Barb Reed, Treasurer, 5733 Lindenwood, STL MO  63109.     reedkobergia@yahoo.com
