Broad edged nibs:

Mitchell, Brause, Speedball, Tape (you don’t need all of them, maybe just two; I mainly use Mitchell and Brause)

Others (Speedball C-0, C2, C3; or Brause 3mm, 2.5mm & 1.5 mm; or Mitchell 01, 02 & 04, 05, ) (N01, N02, N04, N09, N207)

 Non-waterproof ink (Higgins Eternal, Pelikan 4001), walnut ink. (I08, I04, I53)

Paper:

Canson Bleed proof or other smoother paper for ink (Borden & Riley#37) (roughly 11x14 inches). Nothing that bleeds. (P32)

John Neal grid practice paper (P21)

Rhodia is a good choice. These are good practice papers. (P53, P75)

Options: (that I recommend; your choice)

Gouache: a couple of colors click HERE for our selection of Gouache

Arkansas Stone: called an Arkansas Hard Stone. (S115) Don’t bring some old lawnmower blade sharpener, it won’t be good enough)

Finishing paper (very fine sandpaper) (S107)

32x loupe (for examining nibs), or at the very least, a magnifying glass. You will need good magnification if you want to see how we are shaping our nibs. (S1112)

Better paper you like, i.e.

Arches Text Wove (not the easiest to write on, but feels nice) (PS01, PA03)

Zerkall (PS92)

Rives BFK (PS91, PS107)

MBM (PA104, PS104)

HP Watercolor paper (PA42, PS42)( Arches ,Fabriano, W&N-your choice)

Any other “nice” paper you would like to work on)

Pointed brush (Winsor & Newton Series 7, 000, or 00, or 1) (BR28)
