Supply List:

PEN AND INK:
• 1 flexible pointed nib I suggest the Hiro #40 or something similar (N81)
• 1 stiffer pointed nib I suggest the Hiro #700 or something similar (N83)
• 1 Speedball black nib/pen holder (H69)
• Small bottle of black Moon Palace sumi ink or Higgins Eternal ink (I70) (I08)

POINTED BRUSH: (Choose one option, listed from least to most expensive)
•Aquash or Koi Water Brush (medium size) (FP94) (FP93)
• Pentel Color Brush (comes in black or colors) (FP57)
• Winsor & Newton Series 7 Size 2 Sable (very expensive) (BR28)


PAPER:
• 50sheet pad of 9” x 12” Marker Layout paper (Canson Pro Layout, Bienfang Graphics 360, Borden & Riley) — This is translucent marker paper and excellent for practicing. You can put your grid lines underneath and still see them when writing. Ink doesn’t bleed on this paper. (P32)
• Several 8.5 x 11 sheets of some nicer papers. John Neal sells a Calligraphy Paper Sampler with 14 sheets of some excellent papers. OR • 2 or 3 11” x 17” sheets of Canson MiTeintes (or something similar) in some lighter colors (tan, offwhite, gray) (PA101) (PS61)

OTHER SUPPLIES:
• Ruler, mechanical pencil and white or kneaded eraser (PL21) (E09) (E13)
• One very inexpensive flat (1/8”) watercolor brush to load ink onto nib (Simply Simmons is a good brand) (BR60)
• 6well paint palette (S679)
• Water container (for cleaning tools) (S1005)
• Roll of paper towels
• Some favorite quotes/verses/phrases
