Illumination with Celtic Knots

Virtual Sessions


Celtic knots are said to represent loyalty, faith, friendship or love. Learn the art of incorporating Celtic Knots to your calligraphy, page borders, illuminated letters etc. The possibilities are endless. In this course we will learn to compose designs and then paint in opaque (Gouache) or transparent watercolor.


3 sessions, 2.5 hours each on Thursdays: May 20, May 27, June 3

  1. Pens
    • Permanent Pens – Pigma Micron .03 or .05, Black (M17)

    • Watercolor brushes, Round pointed # 0 ,1, 3, 6 or closer numbers. (BR30)
  2. Watercolor Paints (WNWC1)
    • Red, Deep Blue, Yellow and Black. Any good quality, preferred brands (Winsor & Newton, Holbein)
    • White and Gold Gouache. (WNG1) (HG644)
  1. A palette or a white china plate to mix colors. (S679)
  2. Graphite pencil, HB and 4B (PL38)
  3. Tombow MONO Zero Pen-Style Eraser. (E22)
  4. Straight edge foot ruler (S270)
  5. Two small containers for water (S1005)
  6. Two colored pencils (any colors) (PL28)
