N113. Nikko G Nib
These nibs from Japan are hand cut, extremely smooth, and long lasting. They are chrome plated and have a medium flex. Great for Spencerian. Smooth writing with no burrs or scratchiness. Highly recommended by Michael Sull. Extremely popular with pointed pen men and women!

N118. Zebra G Nib
Zebra Nib.

Similar to the popular Nikko G Nib, but a little more flexible and sharper. It will produce a finer hairline than the Nikko. Same sturdy quality. If you are using the Nikko G but would like to be able to write with thinner hairlines and thicker strokes, give these new nibs a try. Michael Sull still recommends the Nikko G nib as best for learning Spencerian, but this Zebra G Nib is a good one, too for Spencerian.

Which holders will work with this nib?

Just wanted to let you know about my experience with the ZEBRA G nibs: Santa was very generous to me this year and I got a dozen. I pulled the nibs out to play with this weekend and I have found my new love. I used the nib with Walnut Ink and the hairlines, so thin, so smooth, with a light touch and the nib skated effortlessly across the page. I really enjoyed working with this nib. If you haven't had the chance to try this nib out yet, it's worth the couple of bucks. I haven't tried any of my other inks but I will be doing that this week. So far, I'm loving these nibs. Don't know if they are workhorses yet - I only had them a few days. - Ilovepenmanship

I love them too. The nibs are great with the iron gall inks because the ink does not eat the nib as fast. Great hairlines and just enough flex for shades. Much thanks to John Neal for these!!! - Nan DeLuca

N137. Tachikawa G Nib
Tachikawa G Nib

A multi-use pen nib capable of drawing thin or thick lines depending on the amount of pressure. It is a great drawing nib. It is good for pointed pen scripts such as Spencerian and Copperplate. (Not as readily available as the Nikko G & Zebra G). Chrome-plated.

H23. Hunt Oblique Penholder
Speedball Oblique Pen holder

Black plastic hourglass shape penholder with offset for nib. For copperplate and Spencerian. The offset helps righthanders with the letter slant. Most lefthanders use a straight holder not this oblique holder. However, some use an oblique holder.

These pointed nibs work in this holder: Hunt 22, Hunt 56, Hunt 99, Hunt 100, Hunt 101, Hunt 103, Hunt 104,
Gillott 170, Gillott 303, Gillott 404, Gillott 1950
Hiro 700, Esterbrook 354, Brause Rose Nib.
The Nikko G nib will work okay, but the holder is not ideal for this nib.

Gillott 659 does NOT work with this holder; use H75 (Gillott Holder #51) instead.

The EF Principal does not work in this holder. See H48 Ziller Oblique Holder (Size) PRIN, and both the Blackwell Holders H50, H61

H96. Adjusted Oblique Plastic Holder with Metal Flange
This comfort-grip, black plastic, “hourglass” holder with an oblique brass flange is a great improvement over the Speedball Oblique Holder. The flange is tilted to decrease the angle of the nib to the paper, making your upstokes less likely to catch on the paper and the flange is pre-adjusted for our most popular nibs.
For right-handers, the offset flange allows for the slant of pointed pen scripts without having to severely cant the writing paper. Some left-handed scribes also use an oblique pen holder.
This replaces the Peerless Oblique Holders.

This holder does not include a nib.

Specify Size: Brause 66EF, Gillott 303, Nikko G or Principal EF.
(Like all similar holders, the flange can be adjusted for additional nib sizes. If you would like holders for a class adjusted for a different nib, let us know and we will add the size to our inventory.)

What do the dots mean?
Red Dot - adjusted for the Nikko
Green Dot - adjusted for the 303
Purple Dot - adjusted for the 66ef
Blue Dot - adjusted for the Prin
