TOOL SUGGESTIONS FOR CALLIGRAPHERS

  • Speedball C nibs (sizes 1 or 2) or other broadedged nibs (N02) (N04) (N09)
  • Pointed pen nibs (Click here for our entire selection)
  • Pointed brush Expensive option: Winsor/Newton Series 7 Pointed Brush (size 2) Inexpensive option: a water brush in small or medium pointed tip (BR28) (FP64)

  • Zig Calligraphy Marker (dual tips) (M87) (M122)
  • Uni Posca Paint Pen in white and/or other colors (M149)
  • Gel pens (M137)
  • Markers (M97)
  • Micron pens (M17)

SUPPLIES FOR ALL

  • 6well paint tray (S679)
  • Inexpensive flat watercolor brush (between 1/8” and 1/4”a good size for doing some flat brush writing & using for adding color) Simply Simmons is a great, inexpensive brand. (BR66)
  • 14 x 17 pad of Strathmore drawing paper (something with a bit of texture and NOT coated or slick) for doing practice writing. I use Pacon Sulphite Drawing paper medium weight, but it comes in reams and you won’t be using all that much. (P100)
  • Small box of 10 blank cards and envelopes
  • A few pastels
  • A few colored pencils
  • Glue stick
  • Some favorite watercolors (whatever you have)
  • Metallic or iridescent media to drop into wet ink or paint (optional)
  • Metallic or iridescent dry pigments to sprinkle into wet media (optional)

OPTIONAL TO ADD ONTO ENVELOPES AND CARDS

  • Vintage stamps, holiday papers, ephemera, any other kind of embellishments

Household Items

  • Water containers and small cups for inks
  • Cheap mixing brush (BR43)
  • Holiday quotes/phrases
  • A pair of scissors or an Xacto knife with some new blades, and a cutting surface (S504) (S417)
