Description

N161. Conte Atome 1423 Nib

Unlike many very small pointed nibs, such as the crowquills, this one is fairly stiff. While used primarily for drawing, this nib also works well for very small script (such as Copperplate calligraphy or Spencerian Script). The hairlines and crosshatching are extremely fine. Because of its small size, you can't use a standard pen holder. The Atome 1423 nib fits in the Hunt 104 (H70) and Tachikawa T25 (H88). Price break at 12. - Benoit Furet's favorite nib for filigree - Bright-finish Steel.

    Good nib

Nice nib for tiny detailed work. It is not held firmly in Tachikawa nib holders there is a little wiggle which is not great for fine detail work.

Lovely fine nibs to decorate versals. Mine are nothing like Benoit Furet’s yet, but the nibs improve my work!

    The Atome 1423 nib

Posted by Bill Kemp on Nov 11th 2022

After taking Benoit Furet's class on split versals and filigree, getting the Atome 1423 nib was a requirement. The nib truly provides the ultra thin lines that Benoit desires you to have when doing the filigree. Does require a light touch, but it is a stiff nib, but achieving the thin line with gouache or ink is very achievable. Now to actually do some filigree!

This small nib is amazing. It is perfect for small filigree work.

    Atome 1423 nib review

After being referred to use this nib by Benoit Furet to do filigree, it was a success. The nib is stiff and allows one to make the fine thin hairlines for this application. I can see it's use in other pointed pen work!
