A: The IS39 Japanese Color Ink Sticks are a high-quality professional artist material. They are softer than the discontinued Saiboku Ink Sticks. Unlike the Saboku sticks, for all colors the resulting ink from grinding flows well equally well from the pen. Reggie Ezell tested the for us and was most pleased.

Q: Are these made with animal or vegetable glues?

A: Hello! We have checked with the manufacturer and they replied that they are made with animal glue. Animal glue is the traditional binder for Japanese ink sticks.
