Anika Ahmen - Introduction to Arabic Naskh Script Calligraphy

This workshop will start with an introduction to Islamic calligraphy, focusing on the script of Naskh. We will first go through a small presentation about the history of calligraphy and then dive into the materials and the first lessons of the curriculum. As you get acquainted with the intricate details of the letters and letter combinations, you will discover the beauty of the writing. There will be homework between each session, which will be printed out and corrected with red ink as is the usual practice in the traditional method.

• Reed/Bamboo pen or Oblique Parallel Pen (1.5 mm) - (FP133)
• Black Ink (Higgins Eternal) - (I08)
• Ink well and Silk Yarn - to control ink flow
• White Glossy Paper
• Writing pad or cushion
