80 pages of instruction on basic script starting with holding the pen and positioning the paper, followed by pages of exercises, letterforms, words, and sentences to copy. Then 33 pages on Artistic Writing (Spencerian) -- instruction on adding the stresses to capitals and appropriate lowercase letters. Smaller sections on Engravers Script, broad-edged
alphabets, off-hand flourishing, engrossing, and diplomas. A great reprint. A highly recommended manual.

Reprints the 7th edition, 1938, with a new foreword and an added biography of Tamblyn.

Love this book

Love this book. It's style is not as time consuming as Spencerian and yet much prettier than Palmer's style. If you're interested, you couldn't do much better than this book. As for John Neal Books, I was thrilled to find this title in brand new condition and it was shipped in a timely manner and packed well. Highly recommended.
Owner Response: Robert is referring to the first half of this book which is instruction on Tamblyn's "Standard" cursive alphabet. It is a monoline alphabet with no stressed (thick) stokes and it has simple cursive capital forms. The second half of the book covers Artistic Writing (flourished capitals) and Engravers Script and also has pages on broad-edge alphabets, off-hand flourishing, and examples of resolutions.
