Class Overview - Beginner

Marie will guide you through the alphabet of upper- and lowercase letters helping you to learn a classic cursive handwriting style based on the handwriting systems of the late 1800’s. These systems have their foundations in Spencerian and were developed by penmen such as Behrensmeyer, Mills, Palmer, and Champion as business handwriting systems. You will learn how to take advantage of arm and finger movement to help you write the letters using three easy strokes.

CLASS SUPPLIES
• Pencil (I recommend .05 mm mechanical pencils) (PL21)
• About 6 pieces of 5x5 graph paper (5 squared per inch)
• 5-6 sheets of translucent paper to place over guidelines (e.g., Borden & Riley layout or Canson layout). (P32, P203, P09-50)

OPTIONAL SUPPLIES
• Pens .05 (Pentel Energel, Sharpie S-Gel, or Micron 01) (M17)
