Star Studded Decorated Letter

This workshop is not about learning letters. It is more about the shapes and the brush strokes which will make beautiful backgrounds for projects. Learn how to create cards with beautiful details and eye-pleasing compositions.

Supplies:

  • PA42, P2050. D’Arches HP Watercolor paper – 90 or 140 lb (or other fine art paper), 9” x 12”
  • WNG1-WNG4. Gouache – 2 colors of your choice plus Zinc White (In my video I use Winsor Newton Ultramarine, Cadmium Red, Zinc White )
  • S747. Mixing palette – porcelain 4.75” wide or other
  • S1000. FineTec Metallic Gouache – gold or silver (or other brand, i.e. Holbein tube metallics)
  • I38. Dr. Martin’s Bleed Proof White
  • BR28. Paint Brushes – Winsor Newton Series 7 - #1, Miniature #00; Rhapsody Round #4 You may use what you have on hand
  • Prismacolor NuPastel – red and blue for colors that work with your gouache choice)
  • S2022. Gum Arabic – just a drop or two (but you can do the project without it)
  • E09. Kneaded Eraser – Faber-Castell
  • PL21. Drawing pencil – Pentel GraphGear 500 – 0.5 or 0.7 HB lead
  • S1017. Distilled water in dropper bottle
  • BR43. Stirring brush or small wooden craft stick (or end of your paint brush)
  • Razor blade – straight edged
  • Q-Tips
  • Scrap of paper – to scrape shaved pastel onto
  • S1005. Water pot – to rinse brushes
  • Paper towel – to dry brushes
