N04. Mitchell Rexel Round Hand Nibs. Straight cut. 

Flexible calligraphy nibs from England. Straight cut. Reservoirs are purchased separately. Though they are called Round Hand, these chisel edge nibs are good for many alphabets including Carolingian, Italic, Uncials, Gothic, Foundational Hand, and Roman Caps. Used by professional calligraphers with and without the reservoirs. Some beginners may have trouble with the flexibility. One of our most popular nibs for calligraphy. 

The sizing is different from other nibs. Below is the breakdown of the Mitchell size and millimeter equivalence. 

Size 0 = 3.3mm
Size 1 = 3mm
Size 1-1/2 = 2.5mm
Size 2 = 2.3mm
Size 2-1/2 = 1.8mm
Size 3 = 1.4mm
Size 3-1/2 = 1mm
Size 4 = 0.9mm
Size 5 = 0.75mm
Size 6 = 0.6mm

    This is a lovely flexible nib. It helped my hand and arm a lot when working on a very large envelope order (500+ with Italics) because of it's flexibility. Other nibs were too stiff and were making my hand hurt. The flexibility and sharp squareness also allows to get nice contrast of thicks and thins. I ordered several sizes but ended up using the #4 , and the only problem I had is that out of the 10 I ordered only about 5 were working nicely, since it seemed the others came a little separate in the center which caused the ink to skip and the center edges to catch on the paper fibers.

    I use Mitchell Round Hand nibs almost exclusively for my calligraphy. They are my favorite over Brause and Speedball.
