Description

We will begin by grounding ourselves in a strong, basic form of gothic: Textura. Then we will, variable by variable, morph it through a series of permutations; creating variations, modernizing it and doing projects that are anything but traditional. Beginners through advanced welcome. SPECIAL BONUS: Reggie will be giving all participants of this workshop free access to his online, instructional video, ‘Basic Blackletter’. A link will be sent to participants upon securing a seat for the weekend. This is an online workshop. All links to join will be provided once you reserve your seat. Please be sure you can attend BOTH days before reserving your spot: Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18 from 9:00am-4:00pm each day. There will also be a Tech-Check on Thursday, February 15, which is highly recommended but not required. More information will be sent to those who register for the workshop.

A LITTLE ABOUT REGGIE EZELL Reggie is a teacher's teacher. Over the past four decades his year long course “26 Seeds: a Year to Grow” has been among the most highly regarded and sought after in the U.S. and Canada. For a decade before that he taught calligraphy at Loyola University and the Newberry Library of Chicago. The two other extended studies courses that he created and continues to carry into the future are “PRIMITIVE TO MODERN” and “Letterforms Inspired by the Saint John's Bible.” Examples of exciting works from these courses have been emailed out weekly since 2009 as “Pic of the Week.” All are archived on his website at www.reggieezell.com. His three dimensional works have been carved in stone, cast in bronze, and sandblasted into redwood and glass. His specialty is gilding on a variety of traditional and non-traditional mediums. His work has appeared in Letter Arts Review, Bound & Lettered, and numerous books and journals. His works have been exhibited around the United States and Canada including the Newberry Library in Chicago and the National Cathedral in Washington D.C.
