This script was developed by the late Gwen Weaver (1950 – 2013). Gwen loved the pointed pen and just wanted other scripts to be associated with the pointed pen. One of the reasons why she developed it. Gwen taught this script at several IAMPETH conferences, used the script on hundreds of commission pieces. Honored to have worked with Gwen, I am proud to teach this script and pass it along to new calligraphers. Since the script only has 26 letters, it is an easy script to learn and to use. It is a very vertical script which I believe you will enjoy learning.

Supply List:
- Pointed pen holder – The holder can be a straight holder or oblique. Since this is a very vertical script, the user must determine which will be more comfortable. Since Bill is so used to a oblique holder, that is what he will be using. (H113, H133, H114)
- Nib – Since Bill do not know if you are heavy-handed calligrapher or not. He tend to ask the beginners to use a Nikko G. A Nikko G is a stiff nib and allows the beginners to this nib with ease. Bill really like using the Nikko when doing Weaver Writing Style, because with it being a stiff nib, it truly keeps his shades to a thin or normal stroke. A more flexible nib will provide a heavier shade; at times you do not desire one. (N113)
- Paper – This is a tough one. Bill will be providing guide sheets for the lettering. Bill usually copy them onto paper that he know works very well with the pointed pen and mist inks. Bill use Rhodia and Mnemosyne blank paper when doing pointed pen work. This paper is smooth and as Bill said accepts the pointed pen and most inks. If you have a paper that you like and will work well with the pointed pen, then by all means use that paper. (P53, P64)
- Ink – Use an ink that you like. Again, the ink needs to work with the pointed pen and the paper you are working with. Bill will be using Norton Walnut ink during the class. Bill likes Walnut ink and knowing that it works well with the pointed pen does very well with Weaver Writing Style. (I53, I145, I70)
