Description

Beyond the traditional broad-edge and pointed nibs, there's a whole world of unconventional tools waiting to be explored — nibs with square or round-shaped tips. These special nibs can trace lines with rounded endings, or bring unexpected contrast to letterforms in ways that go beyond what we're used to.

Starting from the skeleton of a script we already know, we'll discover how to use these tools — sometimes conventionally, sometimes not — through variations in rhythm and contrast, supported by techniques that play with pressure and manipulation.

What we'll cover:

  • Lesson 1 - We'll start with the basics: foundational strokes and lowercase letters using the B-series nib
  • Lesson 2 - We'll move on to rhythm variations and uppercase letters, building on what we've learned
  • Lesson 3 - We'll close with composition and an introduction to the A-series nib
