My first glass pen
When my calligraphy guild offered a program on glass dip pens, I asked the instructor what I needed to bring. She suggested one of the $10 pens from John Neal or PIA as a good entry-level choice. Now I see why. I'm experienced with, and sometimes teach, pointed pen and broad nib hands. This glass pen makes it truly ~fun~ to have the dip (hand)writing experience without the painstaking "requirements" of using traditional tools for a formal hand. It looks nice, feels good in the hand, and holds a reasonable amount of ink. It doesn't seem to offer the precision and predictability of a metal nib, but maybe that's because I'm new to it.
