    Inkmethis ink stirrer

Posted by Jim W on Sep 25th 2024

This works pretty well. I wish it had a longer throw. As it is, if you turn the dial just a little you get a big change. A longer throw would make it easier to dial in the exact amount of volume, but maybe that would cost too much, not sure. Once I got the right jar and the right magnet stir bar, then it works as advertised. Most inks don’t need constant stirring, but some do. I have been practicing with Muir Woods ink from Fox & Quills and also Ziller Charcoal ink, both of which like to be stirred frequently. I decant the inks into the Low-profile Glass Ink Jar from John Neal and use a 20mm stir bar. That combo seems to work well. I keep the ink stirring the entire time. This eliminates having to deal with stirring by hand while I’m trying to concentrate on other stuff, which makes this stirrer a worthwhile investment for me.
