Including both shading and shadows to our lettering is a fun and easy way to enhance their visual dimension and make our letters stand out. The first part of this class will focus on shading techniques for letters. By using a simple set of drawn versals, participants will learn to create depth with both hard edge and soft edge shading. The next section will address adding shadows to letters, covering methods for positioning shadows accurately to generate a three-dimensional effect and achieve depth. Instruction begins with basic techniques and progresses to more advanced methods. The content includes traditional engrossing techniques as well as contemporary ones, all of which can be incorporated into our calligraphic letters to make them more interesting and give them that wow factor.
