Nina Tran - Gothic Textura - Dec 5 & 6, 2026

Nina Tran is an internationally renowned calligrapher and instructor based in Los Angeles, California. Despite its reputation as a rigid and formal bookhand, Gothic Textura is a versatile script and that lends itself to a wide range of variations and hybridizations. In this class, students will learn a basic Gothic Textura minuscules and majuscules that can be readily modified into a personalized Blackletter style to suit one's preferences. Class will be from 10AM-noon with a one hour lunch resuming at 1PM-3PM on December 5th and 6th. Nina specializes in both pointed pen and broad-edged scripts, teaching popular styles like Copperplate, Spencerian, Italic, and Gothic variations (such as Textura and Fraktur). Since beginning her calligraphy journey in 2015 and discovering the Speedball Textbook in 2016, she has become a beloved educator, teaching in-person and online for various guilds, conferences, and organizations globally, including the Society for Calligraphy and the International Association of Master Penmen and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH). She is also well-known for hosting weekly live Q&A sessions on her Instagram (@anintran). She has been featured in several prominent publications, including Calligraphy Crush, the Edge, UPPERCASE, and the 26th Speedball Textbook.
