These drawn and painted letters are sure to delight every calligrapher, from beginner to advanced. Students will be led through a series of exercises that will help them create their own unusual letterforms. The letters will be drawn within a 3” x 3” format—which helps the student see both the positive and negative space of each letter, and thus helps with understanding how the letter is formed. A variety of mediums will be used to create our little “jeweled” letters. Media will include gesso and masking fluid resist, gouache, watercolor, metallic watercolors and dry pigments, paint pens, etc. We will also work on both white and black papers to achieve different effects.
