This class is for those who would like to master and understand the beautiful letters of Ornamental Penmanship, and what makes them strong, yet graceful. Ornamental Penmanship evolved from the simpler Spencerian Script, with the addition of more dramatically shaded capitals and larger forms. We are studying the lower case in this class, with an eye for detail and strong analysis of the forms. We will look at proportion, curvature, slight shades, and slant, before turning our attention to the spacing needed to keep the letters open and graceful. The capital letters will be studied in a subsequent class.
