Wabi-Sabi celebrates the beauty found in imperfection and transience — a gentle reminder to let go of perfection and embrace the unexpected. In this class, you’ll experience the magic that happens when ink meets water and gestures flow without plan — where calligraphy becomes abstract art. We’ll work with Asian brushes, ink, and watercolor to create calligraphic lines that express both movement and stillness. Through meditation and body-centered awareness, we’ll paint the ensō, explore asemic writing, and integrate Eastern ideas of qi (life energy) and empty space. From the Western perspective, we’ll play with color, rhythm, and design, guided by the themes of value and contrast. This live Zoom class is designed to feel like we’re working side-by-side. You’ll receive individual attention and post your artwork on Padlet for shared inspiration and feedback.
