In this workshop we will be looking at the Pilot Parallel Pen and the many possibilities the pen enables you to create. Suzie would like to share with you some great design ideas, not only will we be looking at creating different borders but you will be shown how to manipulate this pen and create beautiful foliage as well as other endless designs. We will also doing some unique color mixing. This will be a fun and insightful workshop...be prepared to walk away loving your Parallel Pen and its amazing flexibility!

Before the workshop please empty two or more of your Pilot Parallel pen cartridges and be sure they are well rinsed. If you are unable to do this please bring several Pilot Parallel Pen cartridges and I’ll show you how to rinse them.

Supply List:

  • Basic Calligraphic Tool box

  • 6.0 parallel pen (*please note the size - you may want to have (2) 6.0 pens) (FP67)

  • Watercolors (either pan or tube) (S1000, S3041, WNWC1)

  • Water-pot - paper towels (S1005, S1695)

  • 6 well palette (S3010, S2005, S2006)

  • Scissors (S1662)

  • Natural bristle loading brush (BR43)

  • Pencil, eraser, ruler (I prefer a C-thru) (PL38, E13, S798)

  • Low tack tape (washi tape will work) (S1676, S699)

  • Pipette (S1039, S870)

  • Layout paper (#37 Boris Marker Layout) Borden &Riley (P09-50)

  • Tracing paper (P43)

  • 5 X 8” or larger scraps of Arches text wove (Velin) or Arches MBM (PA03, PA104)

  • Black non-waterproof ink : Higgins Eternal Ink or similar ink such as: Pelican 4001 (I08, I04)

  • Ecoline 718 Warm Grey (or something similar) (I153)

  • One 8.5 X 11” page protector 

  • Circle maker or a drawing compass (with lead in one end) (S1085)

  • Other Parallel pen sizes if you already have them (FP67)

  • Black paper (Canson, Strathmore Artigan.....) (P131, P2013, P81)

  • Gold Pearl Ex + gum arabic (I139) (S2022, I84)

  • Dr Ph Martins Pen White or Bleed proof (I108, I38)

  • Few toothpicks

  • Kneaded eraser (E09)

  • Small glass votive holder (you’ll see why later)
