Description

Imagine beginning with a blank page and ending with a finished piece that feels intentional, elegant, and unmistakably your own. In this focused, studio-style workshop, master lettering artist Cheryl Tefft leads experienced calligraphers through the nuanced art of decorated letterforms. This is not about embellishment for embellishment’s sake, but about making informed, confident design choices that elevate your work. You’ll explore how to add drama, refinement, and expressive character to individual letters—drawing from historical manuscript traditions while incorporating contemporary approaches that keep the work fresh and relevant. Ideal for calligraphers looking to deepen their visual language, this class will help you create decorated letters suited for finished manuscripts, refined journal pages, exhibition pieces, or heirloom-quality gifts. You’ll leave with a completed piece and a stronger, more intentional approach to decoration you can return to again and again.
